Professional Development Plan

The Professional Development Plan addresses six key elements. They are domain/competency, objective, workshop, mentor support, date of completion, and evaluations. Throughout the internship I will be identifying areas in need of improvement for my personal and professional growth. As the areas of need present themselves throughout the internship I plan to document and seek means of developing and improving both personally and professionally. I will seek strong mentors and research based training to help improve my knowledge and understanding in my areas of deficient. I plan to concentrate my efforts on the PDP in the area of Instructional and Administrative Leadership.  As a lifelong learner I must continually be seeking ways to grow and improve to help my campus/district. I am committed to modeling lifelong learning both personally and professionally so that my children, family, students, staff and colleagues understand the importance of learning and growing throughout your lifetime.

I met with my site supervisor on February 3, 2014. We met at 8:15 a.m. at the administration building. Our meeting lasted approximately 30 minutes. I had emailed the Intern Plan a few days prior so she would have the opportunity to review it. She mentioned that she looked it over during the weekend and had a few questions. She thought the over all plan was well executed. I explained the internship requirements and the sample activities from the textbook.  For the most part all my activities remained the same. I changed some wording on activity 8 and 27 to clarify them. No changes to my completion dates were made at this time. In 7 of my activities additional resource personnel were added at the Superintendents request. She felt that having additional support and experience would help in those specific activities. The Superintendent did suggest that I get multiple perspectives from other campuses throughout my Intern Plan. She felt this would be more beneficial in my future endeavors. We spent some time discussing the changes and areas of need for the district. Our district is moving to a more inclusive model and we are implementing push-in interventions throughout the campuses. When possible many of my activities are focused on inclusion and RTI interventions. The Superintendent supports and is grateful of my availability to help the district in these areas throughout my internship.
